Congratulations to Archives Specialist Vishi Garig – her work at the Historical Archives was recognized by the Reinhold Foundation’s recent Celebrate Clay awards ceremony. Archives received a much-needed $750 donation towards the preservation and educational programs offered. Thank you, Reinhold, and great work, Ms. Garig!

A huge “thank you” to everyone who worked on the Clerk’s Office fair booth this year, helping us earn “Fan Favorite” accolades. From Clerk’s Office personnel to our volunteers of all ages—you made it fun! A special thank-you to Archivist Garig for coming up with the concept and creating displays about the four featured court cases that educated us about the 6th Amendment. Teen Court volunteers were a great addition supplementing the ever-faithful Haggards and other volunteers. Our friend Joseph Lorentzson even got into the act in his early 1900’s period clothing.
This year’s Clerk’s Office fair booth was made possible by the hard work and ingenuity of the MHS Carpentry Class and their lead instructor Jerry Burt. The 30’x8’ display—a replica of our county’s 1890 courthouse courtroom—caught the eye of fair visitors and helped us get our educational message across to the public. Clerk Green stopped by MHS to join school district personnel in thanking Burt and his students for their hard work. Some of the booth was constructed at no cost due to the reuse of materials from previous year’s booths and donated lumber already in stock at the school. Kudos to these skilled young people!
Community policing is a philosophy based upon the partnership and cooperation between law enforcement and the communities that they serve. At the center of this is the idea that all members of the community have a stake in creating safe neighborhoods and improving the quality of life where they live and work.
Throughout the week, USAO MDFL staff met with community members and law enforcement officers to discuss ways to collaborate on specific projects throughout the year.
In 2015, we held a dedication ceremony for the Blue Star Memorial By-Way. On February 16th, The Garden Club of Green Cove Springs installed the monument at our historic courthouse to serve as a tribute to our country’s Armed Forces
