***The Museum is currently closed for renovation due to storm damage. The historic Railroad Depot building and railroad car remain available for viewing by visitors. A great place to take photos!***
The Clay County Historical Society’s museum collections cover a broad range of documents and artifacts depicting the everyday activities and way of life in Clay County during the past century. The collections include early phonographs, medical equipment, cameras, typewriters, toasters, sewing machines, dolls/dollhouse, vintage clothing, and many other items of everyday working and living.
Tours run every first and third Sunday (2PM – 5PM) or by appointment. Please check ahead, as dates/times may change or be cancelled due to holidays and availability of Historical Society volunteers.
Please note: The Clay County History Museum (building attached to the 1890 Historic Courthouse) is not maintained or staffed by Clerk’s Office, Archives or Teen Court staff. Historical Society volunteers man the museum whenever it is open to the public or when special events are held. We gladly partner with these volunteers whenever possible but do not have access to their building or materials.
